ARMENIA-TURKEY RECONCILIATION IMPORTANT FOR U.S.: JAMES STEINBERG February 4, RA President Serzh Sargsyan received U.S. Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg and U.S. delegation in Yerevan. Serzh Sargsyan underlined significance of similar visits from the viewpoint of dialogue development between two states, RA Presidential press service informed, according to news.am. According to him, certain progress in economic sector was registered after previous meeting. "U.S. became our fifth trade partner and third exporter within this period. We have made a number of amendments that should contribute to expansion of bilateral cooperation," RA President said. U.S. Deputy Secretary of State expressed readiness of his country to continue all-round cooperation with Armenia, including regional issues. Two officials hailed positive the current stage of bilateral collaboration, stressing necessity to expand economic ties. The parties exchanged opinions on Armenia-Turkey relations’ normalization. U.S. official highly assessed Armenia’s efforts directed on solution of regional problems. He reaffirmed importance of Armenia-Turkey reconciliation for U.S., expressing country’s readiness to assist the sides. James Steinberg again underlined U.S. stance on RA Constitutional Court judgment, saying it was an important step for continuation of reconciliation process. U.S. diplomat also attached significance to both sides’ political will to continue the normalization process. In his turn RA President welcomed U.S. balanced policy on multilateral relations. |
