EDWARD NALBANDYAN: "THE SETTLEMENT PROCESS CANNOT GO ON UNDER THREATS" By Hasmik Harutyunyan Commenting on Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmed Davutoglu's statement that the Armenian-Turkish protocols may be ratified at the Turkish Parliament in three days, but it is delayed because of some reasons, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan said "the settlement process cannot go on under threats". What about Nalbandyan's Turkish counterpart's statement, the Armenian Foreign Minister said that Ankara delayed the process artificially. "If similar statement was really made, it means that Turkey could ratify the protocols several months ago, but it didn't. The protocols were sent to the Turkish Parliament in October of last year. Not only three days, but more than thirty-three times three days passed from that day. It means that Turkey admits that it delays ratification of the protocols artificially. It is an evident breach of the treaty. Moreover, the Turkish side issues obvious threats of possible cessation, when it has not even started the implementation of the agreement. The language of preconditions is now combined with the language of threats. I don't think that without reviewing this policy a progress can be recorded in the settlement process", Nalbandyan said. |
